09/22/2007 - Dover, DE (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Greg Biffle captured the pole for Saturday afternoon's RoadLoans.com 200 Busch Series race at the Dover International Speedway. The No.16 Roush Fenway Racing Ford driver circled the "Monster Mile" in 23.310 seconds (154.440 m.p.h.).
The pole victory was Biffle's second of the season and 13th of his Busch career. His other pole this season was at Michigan in August.
"The lap was so easy to drive," said Biffle. "The guys did a great job and we were fast right off the truck."
Starting with Biffle on the front row will be series points leader Carl Edwards who posted a second-best time of 23.310 seconds.
Dave Blaney (23.434) and Denny Hamlin (23.487) will make up row two.
While the "Chase for the Nextel Cup" shows six drivers within 40 points at the top of the charts, in the Busch Series there is no such "race."
The Busch Series uses the "old" scoring system in which points are accumulated over the entire season. Unfortunately, that means that in some years the championship sees a driver run away and hide from the competition. In 2006 Kevin Harvick beat Edwards by a record 824 points. This season is more of the same with Edwards holding a 733-point edge over Harvick and David Reutimann. If Edwards can expand the lead to 806 points over the next two events, he can clinch the title just by showing up the rest of the way.
But still, there are seven more races to be run and won. And racers like to win no matter whether they are out of the championship or not.
The last time the series was at Dover, Edwards led 122 of 200 laps and edged Hamlin for the win.
The race is scheduled to drop the green flag at 3:30 p.m. (et).
